A burst of urban color abounds Amsterdam during the spring season. Chicks and ducklings hatching from their eggs is truly a sight to behold. Young bunnies playing around in forests while you set up camp makes you feel in sync with nature.

In spring, Amsterdam feels like the start of a crescendo lasting through summer. Amsterdammers choose their private canal-cruising boats, city parks, and café terraces over being inside, even when the weather is still a little cool.

The long spring days in Amsterdam paint a lively canvas in the city. Trees begin to leaf out and are at their most beautiful. It is as if they have been brightly outlined using a lime-green highlighter. Narcissus, crocus, and hyacinth act as opening act to the world-renowned Dutch tulips, their much bigger bulb counterparts. And everyone in the city troops to Keukenhof Gardens and in bulb farm fields to see the flowers in full glory.

Prices of flights to and accommodations in the city remain relatively low in the month of March. Prices start to skyrocket as the temperature also rises, often around the first days of April. Crowds also follow a similar trend, with flocks of tulip-visitors arriving in the same. This gives way to a continuous flow of North American college students and European weekend-breakers in May.
